Pedagogues
in the intercultural context – challenges, dynamics change
University

Abstract:
The new global and multicultural society is posing a
very important question concerning the citizenship inside and outside the
national borders. A person belonging to a State learns rights and duties in
family and in school. Nevertheless this process of learning is full of
controversies depending on multiplicity of references for parents and teachers.
The concept of what are rights and duties as child, adult, person seems to be
influenced mostly by society, secondly by pedagogy. In school teachers tend to
delegate their role to technology, renouncing to be educators; studying more
and more how didactics works to improve the child knowledge; devaluating the
sense of cultural impact of new Europe
on citizenship education.
Two tendencies are emerging related to two great
problems concerning citizenship.
First tendency is: in school teachers are more
employees than educators and the problem is if they can introduce citizenship
without being also educators.
Second tendency is: in European Union we have the
Constitution stating common cultural heritage and the problem is what teachers,
and students future teachers, study for learning the core of citizenship
including national identity.
This paper examines the two tendencies and
proposals about educating for citizenship in school.

A workshop on methodology for a comparative study in Italy,
Greece, Cyprus, Libya about teacher professional status
Abstract:
Four countries
are meeting to compare their methodological competences in order to share a
questionnaire on teacher professional status.
The original questionnaire has been made in Italy in 2003 with national
application in 2004. The international team, with Greece, Cyprus, Slovakia,
Libya is discussing on what was the scientific background of the Italian survey
and trying to use the same questionnaire, paying attention to the question of
translation and taking into account the professional work that the Italian
group is still developing. The lines of the comparison would be decided during
the workshop which must be seen as a form of democratic work in the European
and International context and as a prove of
active scientific citizenship.
