University
of Pécs, Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering, Department of Information
Technology, Hungary
Abstract:
As a consequence of the
worldwide expansion of the Internet a new ,net-generation’ appeared.
The Internet offers an easy
access to information virtually on anything that one could imagine. It is the
internet surfers’ decision what kind of information they wish to withdraw from
the Net. In my research I plan to ask students of information technology at the
University of Pecs, Faculty of Engineering, a) to investigate what kinds of
information they are mostly interested in to view on the net and b) whether
they are interested in reading about current or general issues of political or
societal life, and if so, what they are mostly interested in. Based on my
results, I wish to define some categories related to social and public life,
and I will present a report on the areas of interest among the university students
of information technology.
Key words:
Internet usage including the
content distribution, investigation of browsing of web pages related to public
life (social life)
