Culture features and adaptive competences of Romany pupils as a fundament of elementary schooling

Abstract:

 

This article presents the culture features and adaptive competences of Romany pupils as a fundament and one key influential factor which improves the quality of elementary education for Romany children. The aim of the research is to obtain information from parents about specific cultural features of raising children in a Romany family, their attitudes towards schooling and the competencies and abilities of Romany children as preferred by their family and community. It is proposed that the findings brought by the research might represent a relevant basis for various methods of education in pre-school and elementary education for Romany pupils.
